One Pillar Pagoda was started construction in the year Ky Suu 1049, under the reign of King Ly Thai Tong. In 1922, the Far East Uncle Ho School repaired the pagoda and kept it according to the old architecture. On the night of September 11, 1954, French colonial henchmen, before handing over the Capital to our Government and people, deliberately set mines to destroy the pagoda.
