The People's Committee of Muong Bi commune, Phu Tho province has just issued a plan to organize the Muong ethnic opening festival in 2026, the festival aims to contribute to preserving and promoting the cultural values ​​of the Muong ethnic group associated with local socio-economic and tourism development. According to the plan, the 2026 Muong Ethnic Opening Festival will be held on a provincial scale, with the theme "Returning to Muong Land - Convergence, Inheritance and Spreading Heritage Values". The organization will be held for 3 days, from February 22 to 24, 2026 (ie the 6th to 8th of January, year of the Horse), at Muong Bi commune stadium. The festival consists of two main parts: ceremony and festival. The ceremony is solemnly held with traditional rituals such as worshiping the Earth God, the Thanh Hoang, the procession of the National Mother Hoang Ba, the ritual of going down to the fields in early spring and offering sacrifices at the temple. The highlight is the opening ceremony with a large-scale Muong Gong concert, along with welcoming art performances, boldly recreating the Muong cultural space. Also according to plan, the festival took place vibrantly with a series of cultural activities, sports and unique folk games. These include Muong ethnic costume competitions, cultural camp displays, traditional cuisine, duet singing competitions, performances of cheetahs and negatives, ethnic sports such as crossbow shooting, tug of war, stick pushing, and many experiential activities for people and tourists. In addition, the Festival also organizes traditional craft demonstrations, exchanges of Xoan singing and military drums, displays of OCOP products, job introduction consulting and a campfire at the festival night. Through activities, Khai Ha Festival not only contributes to preserving and honoring the national intangible cultural heritage of the Muong ethnic group but also promotes the image and tourism potential of the locality, promoting socio-economic development.
